Veteran's day

Picture from The 2006 USMC Birth day ball.

A picture from about 12 years ago...

The 10th was Veterans day and the Marine Corps Birthday.

I did not go to the Ball this year. The first time I can remember not attending in sixteen years.

Someone sent me this for veterans day:

It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN ,
who salutes the Flag,
It is the veteran ,
who serves under the Flag,
ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

This has brought up a lot of thoughts about my fellow veterans who are suffering now. I wonder how this country will react over the years to take care of them.

Take great care.

Once a Marine, always a Marine. So happy Birthday to you too!

Yamakoa,

Thank you for your well wishes. I have missed your comments lately.
I hope you are well, and stop by more often.

May all be well and happy!
