LIES & ZAZEN 98662

Last night Was busy. Got off work in time to rush home, than rush to a PTA meeting, than rush ZMH to her Karate class. Then get home, take a look at the computer for a few than evening office. Good news is everyone joined in for at least a couple of minutes for the evening sitting. Bad news is my wife is still suffering from a sinus infection that she refuses to go to the hospital for. I would like to ask all the readers here to encourage her to get treatment and or if she refused to get treatment quit bothering the rest of the family about how her sinuses hurt. You can e-mail her at megumif(at)gmail.com. Thanks!

This morning I found I was really grateful for sitting the first sitting by alone. ZMH woke up and had a waffle before the second sitting and it seemed to have disastrous effects. She was sliding off her Zafu (slick pajamas) complaining about this and that and asking an apparent never ending stream of questions. Finally, out of desperation, I told a LIE!!!
I told her the most the most important thing was to be upright, still, and silent. It seemed to actually have some effect so hopefully I will have a chance to explain what the most important thing is properly one day. I don't think she is really ready for that talk yet anyway with her "why mind." Then again maybe it is the perfect time.

Listened to a SFZC podcast and a half on the drive in to work. Has anyone else noticed that they seem to have integrated allot of nontraditional stuff into whatever it is they do?
I am not saying it is good or bad, but it is often quite different.

Got more to say but no time to say it. Boo!

Hi Jordan, My computer died shortly after the last comment I left you,lol... So I havn't had the opportunity to come online till now, I went back and read up from the last entry of yours I was able to read till now, and it was nice getting caught up! And thanks for the offer to send me one of the new pipes you've made, I understand if there aren't any left by now, but just in case my address is

Jeremy Joly
111 National Park Way
Crescent City, CA 95531

I'm not currently there though, I am down in Yuba city visiting my mother and helping her set up her new apartment, I'll be back home near the end of the month...

Zazen has come more easily to me lately, I still have allot of things that run through my mind when I try, but instead of fighting the influx of thoughts, I've allowed them free reign, and after awhile things slow down and it becomes much more quiet... Ive learned that at this point If I picture a time in my life in which I felt complete peace then let the image slip away but hold onto the feeling, then let the feeling lose its definition...It leads to a more easily sustainable and pleasant sitting for me... Any more tips are welcome.

Jeremy,
Your so fortunate to be without a computer for so long. I can not even imagine the level of bliss that must have inspired!

As to the pipes I will get you the next one I finish. Should not be too long but I have kind of been letting that project slide in favor of the 10000 other demands of life.

Glad your sitting is coming along. I am a big fan of the Tso Ch'an I for sitting tips and I tend to look to that as the thing that got Master Dogen started. I have often heard it said that we should not seek when the masters taught, but what they sought. Or something like that.

thanks for stopping by and don't be a stranger!

Donna,
Thanks for your kind comments. I'll have a look at your blog.

Thanks, I'll read up on the Tso Ch'an, and yeah, in some ways its nice not having access to a computer for so long, but at the same time, I was a little worried about some friends I have online who where having a difficult time... But It was a bit silly of me to worry, as they are doing fine now,lol...

Thanks for looking!
