I think I need the discipline, where you being a Marine, might enjoy a break from it..

I like what you said about making mental comparisons. I still do this constantly and most likely always will, but am becoming more aware of the habit.oxeyehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15090991809551162388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37983535.post-74175346673319081562009-10-01T08:45:35.954-07:002009-10-01T08:45:35.954-07:00Thanks Lauren, it may be good to just get up when ...Thanks Lauren, it may be good to just get up when you get the feeling to get up, take a walk for a bit, then sit back down for a bit. Although I admit this can be difficult to do when the family is up and about. But just stoping all concerns about "how long" has been refreshing for me.SlowZenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10589294912054724123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37983535.post-35071629920675124552009-10-01T05:25:19.839-07:002009-10-01T05:25:19.839-07:00Great post, Jordan.

I've tried this experiment a couple times with my stop watch. As Barry suggested, the reasons to get up are myriad...and often win with me.

I recently found a 30min hour glass at a local department store. It's a very 'organic' timer. What's really frustrating is sometimes the sand stops or falls in sort of a time warp which doesn't seem to affect the other clocks in the house. I don't quite understand that [wink].Lauren https://www.blogger.com/profile/08148785647986873693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37983535.post-65743751874024504602009-09-30T17:56:56.493-07:002009-09-30T17:56:56.493-07:00Jamie G,

I've got a couple of good timers on my iphone, but what I have been enjoying here lately is just not concerning myself about the time at all. It has been a really refreshing way to sit.SlowZenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10589294912054724123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37983535.post-91913016025330119992009-09-30T17:54:44.110-07:002009-09-30T17:54:44.110-07:00Thanks Barry, Yeah checking mind, I think I've...Thanks Barry, Yeah checking mind, I think I've heard it expressed like that too. I've never like timers, but appreciate the opportunity to watch my mind wrap itself around excuses for why I shouldn't sit for the allotted period. Sometimes an excuse is so compelling that I get up before the time I established when I sat down.

Duh.Barryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09412033978642026623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37983535.post-50816596143449123222009-09-30T15:03:51.150-07:002009-09-30T15:03:51.150-07:00Thanks Kyle. Heck, I've done it so I figure others might fall into that trap too. Hope someone finds these efforts helpful besides me.SlowZenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10589294912054724123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37983535.post-1642742522551807322009-09-30T14:28:22.020-07:002009-09-30T14:28:22.020-07:00"The path to salvation is not a competition.&..."The path to salvation is not a competition."
